Sing Me a Song

I got to thinking about my love for good music recommendations...

A favorite song of mine is Hide and Seek: Imogen Heap. The album, Speak For Yourself, is fantastic. That song is one of the best musical experiences I have ever beheld in four and a half minutes. It is one of the only songs I own that can be looped for hours and still loved.

So. What is your favorite song? Either currently or of all time, it doesn't matter. Leave what it means to you -- its significance, if any. Blogless friends: comment using "other". You can leave your name and input. I'd appreciate it... I really am curious.

i've been asked this question probably a million times in my lifetime, and i think i've answered it differently each time.

i'll give you some of my favorites.

1. Wish you were here by pink floyd
2. Bittersweet Symphony by the verve
3. (ironically) We can be heroes- The Wallflowers
4. Some will seek forgiveness, others escape by underoath
5. Are you In? by incubus.

the list goes on for quite some time, but i'll leave you with that.

Favorite song of all time: "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. Favorite song currently...tough to say. I have been listening to music non-stop this week, and there is a lot of darn good music out there.

Best ever is hard, of course.

Music to me is divided into subcategories:

music to listen to
music that tells a story
music to get things done by
music to reflect to

music to listen to -- oh I change my mind all the time. In college (a long time ago), I could play "Africa" by Toto for hours. Same with "Down at the Sunset Grill" by Don Henley. Lately, it's been "Boston" by Augustana.

music that tells a story -- wow. Most of my play list fits here. If you can stand some country -- "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift.

music to get things done by -- Stand up! by Superchick, but then you expected that. Several others here as well, but this is getting too long and about to get longer.

music to reflect to -- Maybe There's a loving God by Sara Groves ... it talks about a girl whose just a little bit odd and who thinks about God just a little differently. Now, I'm not a girl, but .. it captures a good reflective mood (melody and percussion) [It's playing right now]. And I like it, because, deep down, I think I'm too wierd for most people to "really" understand. But God understands me and thats what I have to fall back on.

(Sorry for rambling).
